RENOVATION CONSULTING

You've seen them on T.V. and heard about them from friends and neighbours. You may have experienced one yourself....We are talking about renovation nightmares!!!

With the business of home repair and improvements increasing, so too are the number of unqualified contractors.
Even three quotes or a referral aren't always enough to ensure a smooth problem free renovation.
Some renovations do not require a building permit but many do and some contractors will try to avoid one because of the complications to their business.
Without the approval and assistance of a Municipal Building Inspector how does one know if the job was done right?

THE RENOVATION INSPECTION PROCESS...

1. Review... we will review architectural drawings and inspect the site to determine if a building permit is required. It is recommended that your contractor attend this meeting.

2. Foundation... on the next visit we will inspect the footings and foundation, water drainage, damp and water proofing before it is backfilled

3. Framing and Mechanical... we will inspect any framing or alterations to the structure as well as electrical, plumbing, heating, and any other mechanical systems for proper installation

4. Pre-drywall... we inspect the insulation, vapor barrier, air barrier, doors, and windows before the drywall is installed. We also recommend that the mechanical systems be tested at this time

5. Final Inspection... this inspection is to make sure the areas that were renovated are complete, safe, and all mechanical systems are working properly

As each renovation is different, we recommend you call for a specific quote suited to your needs
